A TORCHBEARER who took part in the London 2012 Olympic relay has signed up to enter a charity walk run by St Wilfrid’s Hospice - and will do it his torch.

Gavin Owen was one of the 8,000 people across the country who helped ferry the Flame to the Olympics Stadium and later this month (September 22) he will take part in the hospice’s Jim Jam Walk.

Now in its fifth year the charities annual walk is one of the highlights of their fundraising year with hundreds of local people and supporters walking a 10km course taking in Eastbourne seafront. This year the walk takes on a new dimension with runners being invited to take part too.

The event, which starts and ends at Eastbourne College, is supported by both the college and the Langham Hotel and organisers hope this year will be the biggest event yet.
