EASTBOURNE band Toploader is releasing its first new material for eight years and the band will be doing a short UK tour.

The four-piece band, all originally from Eastbourne, made a comeback in the summer of 2009 by playing a sell-out gig on the town’s bandstand.

That came shortly before Toploader frontman Joe Washbourn and the other members of the band started working on new material.

The new single called Never Stop Wondering is out on March 14.

This comes after the band started writing and rehearsing again in late 2009.

Within six months they had written more than 25 songs and were ready to get back into the studio.

Working with producer Danton Supple, who has worked with Coldplay, Doves, Morrissey and Ed Harcourt, the band made their new album Only Human.

Joseph Washbourn, guitarist Dan Hipgrave, bass player Matt Knight and drummer Rob Green teamed up with label Underdogs Music for the album which will be released in May.

Dan Hipgrave said the band was pleased with the new album and added, “This is the album we always wanted to make, exactly the way we wanted to make it.”

Eager to get back on the road, the band has announced a short series of dates around the country to coincide with the release of the single.

The gigs will take place throughout March. F
