Time is running out for Columbo fan’s movie hopes

An Eastbourne film buff’s campaign to raise £2,5000 to make a Columbo-style film has only 17 days left to raise £800.

Dean Matthews, known as @DastardlyDeano on Twitter circles around the town, has built up a following of Columbo fans around the world and after making three trailers and written a script wants to raise the cash to get the budget feature film into production with local people starring in it and filming at local landmarks.

Since the appeal was launched people have been pledging money and £1,700 has been raised.

But Dean, whose followers include Columbo fan clubs and appreciation societies across the globe, is optimistic people will donate before December 21.

He said, “For a minimum budget we could make a feature film. It would be budget, but done with love and care and pay respectful homage to the amazing TV series. A lot of the #ColumboTV folk on Twitter have been very encouraging and the project has began to build momentum.”
