Three Eastbourne businesses have been named as finalists in the national KalliKids Best Awards.
Happyjacks Soft Play has been named as a finalist in the Best Pre-School Activity, while Ravebugs has made it to the final three in the School Age Music section and Just Relax Baby Massage in the Mum and Baby Service.
Ravebugs provide drum lessons for youngsters in Whitley Road. Phil Drew, from the business, said, “When we heard we had been shortlisted we were grinning from ear to ear for days.
“We love what we do at Ravebugs and to get nominated is inspiring. It’s encouraging to know that the parents of our students feel we’re hitting the right mark. To win would be truly fantastic.”
Hannah Hanraty, who runs Just Relax Baby Massage from her home in Old Town, said, “I am thrilled and excited. It’s an amazing privilege to be part of a parent and babies life during those first few precious months. “
Jaki Tompkins, spokeswoman for Happyjacks, based at St Anthony’s Centre, Seaside Road, said, “I feel overwhelmed by the support we have.
“ It is great to be recognised for providing activities for the under fives and being a finalist is amazing. To win would confirm we are on the right track.
“I am looking forward to taking Happyjacks to the next stage. Watch this space.”
The awards, which recognise businesses and providers of family and children, were launched two years ago.
KalliKids is the UK’s stamp tick of approval and accreditation service for children’s activities and services.
To earn accreditation KalliKids’ providers have to be referenced and recommended by families and they have to provide proof of qualifications, training and other documentation.
Karen Bach, founder of KalliKids, said, “Our aim is to arm families with trusted information to help inspire young people to get involved in a wide range of activities.”
The categories included UK’s Best Sports Activity, UK’s Best Educational Provider and UK’s Best School Age Music Activity.
A panel of judges, including former Olympian Roger Black and Catherine Roche, CEO of the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, will now look at the finalists before deciding overall winners.
Based in Brighton, KalliKids has nearly 16,000 parents look to KalliKids for advice and the company has over 31,000 social media followers.
Karen Bach added, “Visitors and users of our site were able to cast a vote for the services they have been especially impressed with.
“Each vote represented a big thank you to the nominated companies.
“Having a KalliKids accreditation is having a stamp of quality.
“Winning a KalliKids award would further cement this stamp.”
