Three arrested in Eastbourne for stealing bikes

Police are appealing for witnesses and owners of bicycles which may have been stolen from Eastbourne town centre between 7.30pm on Sunday (May 15) and 3.30am on Monday (May 16).

At 3.30am that morning patrolling police officers arrested three people in the town centre on suspicion of theft of three bicycles. The cycles were seized.

PC Ruth Parnell-Mace said, “If your bicycle was stolen in Eastbourne during the night of May 15-16, please get in touch. We would like to find out if these bikes are stolen, and if so return them to the rightful owners.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on or call 101, quoting serial 88 of 16/05.

Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year old boy, both from St Leonards, were arrested on suspicion of theft. They were questioned and bailed until June 21 while enquiries continue.

A 17-year-old boy from St Leonards was also arrested on suspicion of theft. He was questioned and bailed until July 1.
