A 39-year-old man is to appear in court charged with a burglary at a home in Eastbourne as part of the police’s Operation Magpie.

Joseph Doyley, of Cavendish Place, Eastbourne, is accused of breaking into a home in Queens Gardens.

Between 1pm and 3.30pm on October 18 the door to a flat in Queens Gardens was forced open by an intruder who stole a Kindle and a small amount of cash.

Doyley has been charged with burglary and was remanded in custody to appear at court yesterday (October 29).

Sussex Police launched Operation Magpie to tackle burglary across the county.
