A plan to shape the future of Eastbourne for the next 15 years looks set to be approved by councillors tonight (Wednesday).

The Core Strategy Local Plan shows the community where and how the town will grow and will protect the wetland Eastbourne Park area from development.

Members of the Cabinet committee already voted at a previous meeting to endorse the document which will also act as a guide for decision makers and developers about what the council will consider acceptable in terms of building projects.

Members also endorsed the Sovereign Harbour Supplementary Planning Document, another guide to how the remaining development sites at the harbour could be used to deliver a number of community facilities such as a community centre, as well as more employment space and housing.

The meeting is at 6pm.
