We are coming to the end of our series of how Eastbourne survived the bombing campaign by German fighters during the second World War.

Over the last few weeks we have been detailing the dates and times of specific bombing raids alongside photographs of prominent Eastbourne buidings which were damaged.

All the information has come from a book entitled Eastbourne 1939-1945, a complete record of nearly six years of war in Eastbourne which was edited by N Hardy.

This week we take a look at the Roll of Honour which details the names and addresses of those killed in the town.

Our photographs this week show the bomb disposal squad, bombing in Cornfield Road, Brightland Road, the Fire Station and St John’s Church.
