Teens arrested after spate of thefts in Eastbourne’s Old Town


Four teenagers have been arrested following a spate of thefts in the Old Town area of Eastbourne.

Various items believed to have been stolen from a house and several cars in Old Town between October 14 and 15 were recovered from an address in the area.

A 16-year-old boy from Hailsham was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs. A boy aged 14 from Uckfield and a 13-year-old boy from Eastbourne were arrested on suspicion of burglary and a 15-year-old boy from Eastbourne was arrested on suspicion of theft.

All four have been bailed until November 19.

A silver framed Sat Nav and a set of golf clubs were among various items that have been recovered by police. The clubs are ‘Nike-Woodworm & Zoom’ in a black and grey golf bag.

Police are also appealing for help in tracing the owners of these items and are appealing for help in tracing briefcases containing bibles and religious material that may also have been stolen and discarded.

Detective Constable Damon Deans-Cane said, “If you have identified that you have been a victim of crime and items have been taken, please inform us.

“We are looking specifically around the early hours of October 15 in the Baldwin Avenue and Eldon Road area of Eastbourne.

“I would like to remind all homeowners to securely lock their houses, and ensure all windows are secured at night. All car owners should remember to leave nothing on show, and to never leave valuables in their car.”
