Teenager arrested in connection with a series of thefts from cars in Eastbourne

Police investigating a series of thefts from unattended vehicles in the Langney Point area have arrested a 15-year-old boy.

PC Dan Cloake, operations co-ordinator for Eastbourne District, said, “Our Neighbourhood Policing Team is investigating numerous thefts from vehicles as part of an ongoing enforcement operation (Operation Sandy).

“Following an arrest, further information has come to light to suggest that several people who have been victims of this type of crime have not reported it to police.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who has been a victim of car crime, and specifically anyone who has had their vehicles tampered with or stolen from in the Langney Point area of the town between the middle and end of September.”

Sussex Police continue to remind motorists of the importance of checking their vehicles are left secure when unattended to help prevent these opportunistic crimes.

People living in the Langney Point area who believe that they may have been victim of car crime over the specified period are asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1090 of 8/10.
