Teenage Eastbourne cyclist injured in apparent hit-and-run

A FEMALE cyclist was injured in an apparent hit and run with a car in Eastbourne town centre.

She was knocked off her bike by the car on Kings Drive at the junction with Gorringe Road at about 7.30pm on Sunday evening.

A red vehicle, possibly a Toyota Yaris, pulled into Gorringe Road from Kings Drive and collided with the cyclist who was travelling towards Whitley Road. The car then continued into Gorringe Road but did not stop.

The cyclist, a local 18-year-old woman, was treated at the scene before being taken to the Eastbourne District Hospital with minor injuries.

PC Nigel Dunne from East Sussex Road Policing Unit said: “We would like to trace the owner of the car that failed to stop as soon as possible.
