Regulars at the Castle Inn, Pevensey, embraced Movember in the name of charity.
The team volunteered at a tenner a time to spend the month of November with hairy upper lips, all in aid of a good cause. Recently they had a get-together at the pub to name the winner.
The event was organised by landlords Andrew and Linda Skinner and the winner was the aptly named Adam Bush who claimed the £50 prize but kindly handed it back to charity, which took the total to £660.
Elsewhere an Eastbourne pharmacy helped to raise funds for Movember. Eight members of staff from Arlington Road Pharmacy and the adjoining Arlington Road Surgery took part in the global event, raising more than £310 between them. A display of various styles of moustache were put on show in the pharmacy, with customers encouraged to vote for their favourite by donating to the Movember Foundation.
Hazel Winter, who works at the pharmacy and organised the event, said, “We’re really pleased to have raised so much for the Movember Foundation. It’s a very important cause and this is a really fun way to raise awareness.”
Local bakers Bella’s Cupcakes also donated 50 cupcakes, which were sold in the pharmacy.
Movember is an annual event that encourages men to grow moustaches during November to raise funds and awareness for cancer and mental health.
