JUNE 1987 saw the founding of one of the most established estate agents in the area.
The year that skinny jeans came in, Whitney Houston was number one in the charts with I Wanna Dance with Somebody (who loves me) and Dirty Dancing hit the box office, Peter Taylor and Graham Engley were busy with new ideas and aspirations of their own.
With the continued success of their already established Eastbourne office and a growing number of rural properties being sold by the firm, Peter and Graham felt confident enough to venture into a wider market and geographical area.
This summer staff at Taylor Engley are excited to celebrating the agent’s 25th anniversary in Hailsham.
Graham Engley appreciates that they wouldn’t be where they are today without the support of the public.
He said, “Market loyalty has played a large part in our success. Many past clients have returned for a repeat of the excellent service previously provided and we also meet those who have received highly praised recommendations.”
Ben Surridge, Hailsham branch manager, added, “I’m proud to have a great team here at Hailsham of long-serving, reliable and dedicated staff, they have helped us earn an enviable reputation for a top quality service.”
To mark the occasion Graham, Ben and colleagues are hosting an Open Office on Wednesday June 13 for anyone who would like to partake in celebrating the success of the last 25 years and the many more to come.
Graham said, “Please feel free to pop in at any time during the day to have a glass of bubbly and some cake. This is a good opportunity for us to answer any questions, meet people and pass on our thanks,”
Taylor Engley not only excel at selling, but letting and management of property has become a major part of the company.
Sarah Willingham, head of property management, now manages in excess of 100 properties throughout Hailsham, Eastbourne and the surrounding villages, from the Hailsham office.
She said, “The lettings register has increased beyond expectations. With an overwhelming rise in demand for let properties, our new instructions are very often let quickly and we have a register of tenants awaiting vacant properties.”
Stuart Duncan, principal of Taylor Engley Mortgage Services, is a further string to the bow for Taylor Engley. Having been with the company since August 1998, he has established a good reputation and strong client base.
Again receiving business through returning clients and recommendations, Stuart is valuable member of the team who compliments both the sales and the letting service.
Sarah added, “Sadly, Peter Taylor won’t be with us to celebrate such a milestone. Peter passed away just before Christmas. He was a well-respected and highly thought of co-founder of the company. His memory will live on both with the staff and the name.”
