Walkers in East Sussex are being invited to lace up their walking shoes for a brand new event, ‘Walk for Parkinson’s’, to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK.
Walk for Parkinson’s in the beautiful surroundings of Seven Sisters Country Park will take place on Sunday 28 June at 10am in Exceat, Seaford, East Sussex.
Walkers can choose from a four-mile or eight-mile distance. The four mile route is a family forest trail, starting at Exceat and ending at East Dean. It includes a scenic bus back to the start point (bus tickets will be reimbursed).
The eight mile route is 1,450ft of ascent - circular route through historic Friston Forest, the picturesque village of East Dean and along the dramatic Seven Sisters cliffs. .
The event is designed for walkers of all ages and abilities, and is an ideal opportunity to take a stroll and enjoy a great day out with friends and family. Dogs on leads are welcome too.
Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said: “We are delighted to be hosting a Walk for Parkinson’s event in Seven Sisters Country Park.
“Walking is a great way to stay fit and healthy, and the distances on offer at our Walk for Parkinson’s events will suit everybody from those looking for a leisurely stroll to those who would like more of a sturdy challenge. I would encourage everyone in East Sussex to walk with us to help find a cure.
“The funds raised from the event will make a real difference to our work to improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.”
There is no minimum sponsorship required to take part, but the charity is hoping to raise over £250,000 from the 25 events, so suggests walkers aim to raise at least £50.
The entry fee is £10 for adults (£5 for under 16s). All walkers will receive a fundraising pack with tips and advice, sponsorship forms and an exclusive T-shirt to wear on the day.
The Seven Sisters Country Park walk is one in a series of 25 Walk for Parkinson’s events, that will be held across the UK during the spring and summer months.
