New children’s toys, books, toiletries and vouchers are being collected by Yorkshire Building Society to help spread a little festive cheer for the children that will be spending Christmas away from home and in hospital this year.
The Society’s branch on Terminus Road, has become an official donation station for the Kipling Children’s Ward at Conquest Hospital in Hastings.
Kipling Children’s Ward is the main ward for children who need an overnight stay. It has 25 beds and provides all appropriate care for children from newborns up to 16 years old. The donations of new toys, gifts and games are for children and teenagers to unwrap on Christmas Day on the ward.
Susan Coleman, manager of the Eastbourne branch of Yorkshire Building Society, said, “Christmas is the season of goodwill and we really want to help make a difference at this time of year to children who are feeling poorly and are unable to spend Christmas with their families. Hopefully the people of Eastbourne will be generous with gifts and we can help put a smile on their faces and give them a Merry Christmas.”
The collection will be running until January 25 during the building society’s usual opening hours.
