A record 48 local charities will have a welcome boost at Christmas as they take part in this year’s annual Win A Car at Eastbourne’s Arndale Centre.
Tickets are being sold for just £1 each with every penny raised going directly to the charities which each have a day in the Centre until Christmas Eve.
Last year the event raised nearly £23,000 last year and close to £220,000 since it was launched in 2000.
The lucky winner of this year’s event will take home a brand new Suzuki Splash, worth £9,300, for the cost of a £1 ticket, when the draw is made on Christmas Eve.
For the charities, Win A Car is a welcome opportunity to raise funds in a difficult economic time.
Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards will be in the centre tomorrow (Saturday) followed by East Sussex Deaf Children’s Society (today, Friday November 16); Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards (tomorrow, November 17); No 54 (Eastbourne) Air Training Corps (Sunday, November 18); Chalk Farm Hotel (Monday, November 19); Lark in the Park (Tuesday, November 20); Alzheimers Society Eastbourne (Wednesday, November 21) and Eastbourne Talking Newspaper (Thursday, November 22).
