Stone Cross, Westham and Hankham

Burglaries: A number of burglaries across the district following a number of reports submitted to the police. Several house burglaries have taken place in which mainly small items and/or cash have been stolen. Some of the properties were insecure at the time of the incidents with residents having either gone out, or to bed at night, leaving their doors unlocked. Inspector Tony Wakefield from Wealden's Neighbourhood Policing team said, 'It's a common theme unfortunately. An opportunist gets into a house through an unlocked door, finds items of value to steal, and can then be in and out again within minutes. We would like to encourage people to take care that they keep their homes secure and to report anything suspicious to us, no matter how insignificant they might think it is. We rely on reports from the public to help us catch offenders and prevent further incidents from happening'
