Mums, daughters, sisters and friends will soon be lacing up their trainers to race money for Cancer Research UK.

The annual five and ten kilometre Race for Life runs will take place on Sunday, June 21 at Eastbourne Sports Park.

Jenny Ainsworth, Cancer Research UK’s Eastbourne event manager, said, “Race for Life events are not competitive. They are not about being fit or fast.

“It’s about an army of women crossing the finish line together in the fight against cancer. Whether you’re a running pro or novice, every step you take around the course will help bring us one step closer to the day when all cancers are cured.

“The atmosphere is incredibly supportive and pledging to take part, alongside thousands of like-minded women, is a great motivation.

“With fire in their bellies and trainers at the ready, we know that Eastbourne ladies are up for the challenge.”

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life events raise millions of pounds every year to fund research to help beat 200 types of cancer.

More than one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer but survival rates have doubled since the early 1970s.

Whether you want to run, jog or walk, there is still time to sign-up for the Race For Life. Both challenges start at 11am on the day.
