A new state-of-the-art ward is set to open at Eastbourne DGH next week (November 3).
The new Pevensey Ward will have twice the space of the old ward, giving patients more privacy and dignity while they are treated.
The £2.3 million facilities include a pentamidine room to help patients with their breathing, and a room with air conditioning to aid treatment.
Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell visited the new ward ahead of its official opening next week.
She said, “This is an exciting new state-of-the-art ward for the people of Eastbourne and the surrounding area and it goes to show that there really is excellent treatment and facilities available at our local hospital.
“It was a pleasure to get a sneak preview and meet staff, and I’m sure that patients will very much welcome the new facilities.
“Many congratulations and great thanks should go to the dedicated fundraisers who have worked so hard over many years to make this new ward happen.”
Mrs Ansell was given a tour of the new ward by haematology and oncology matron Jean Baulcomb. The MP also met staff on the current ward where around 900 treatments a month are carried out.
