Spitfire to fly over WW2 pilot’s funeral in Eastbourne

A Spitfire will fly over the funeral of a World War Two fighter pilot in Eastbourne later today (September 17).

The flight is in honour of Maurice Macey, a former Spitfire pilot from Pevensey who died at home aged 92 on Friday September 4.

A Spitfire from Biggin Hill Heritage Hanger will fly above the funeral service in Eastbourne Crematorium at around 4pm today.

A veteran fighter pilot Mr Macey protected Eastbourne from bombing runs during World War Two.
