A 20mph speed limit on the roads outside Ratton School looks set to be agreed on Monday (February 23).
East Sussex County Council has consulted residents on the lower speed limit along sections of Park Avenue and Park Lane outside Ratton School.
The meeting agenda states, “The analysis of the results of the consultation exercise show that a majority of those who responded supported the introduction of an advisory 20 mph speed limit on a part-time basis.”
It has been recommended that the lead member agree to the plans at Monday’s meeting. It is expect the scheme will be taken forward to detailed design and construction.
The plan comes after a petition submitted by Ratton School calling for a speed limit reduction along Park Avenue and Park Lane, adjacent to the school. The petition raised concerns about speeding outside the secondary school.
Back in November, residents told the Herald the measures didn’t go far enough and new parking restrictions were needed in the area as nearby streets including Warburton Close are becoming “overflow car parks” and they cannot get in and out of their driveways during busy school times.
