Smoothies were lapped up by cyclists and bystanders at this year’s Eastbourne Cycling Festival – raising more than £250 for Eastbourne and District Mencap.
Volunteers for the nominated charity, which looks after adults with learning difficulties, manned the Smoothie Bike, at the annual festival based on the Western Lawns, opposite the Grand Hotel.
Paul Durrant, Chief Operating Officer, and his daughter Freya helped customers pedal their way to a refreshing mixed fruit drink – with people just being asked to give a donation.
“It was a great day and we had a steady stream of customers,” said Paul. “The children loved pedalling away on the bike and creating the delicious drink before their eyes. We were very grateful to be involved with the event. The donations will be put towards the refurbishment of our residential homes.”
Eastbourne Mencap is aiming to raise £500,000.
