CYCLISTS of all ages and abilities are being asked to take part in Bourne 2 Bike, The Arthritic Association’s first fundraising ride.
The event, which has a range of rides, will take place on October 2. The under 12s can take part in a circuit around Eastbourne Sports Park and there is a nine mile, 28 mile, 39 mile and 49 mile to choose from.
All the rides go up the Cuckoo Trail but the longer distances have some steeper hills to make them more of a challenge.
The Arthritic Association, which is a national charity based at Upperton Gardens in Eastbourne, has around 3,000 members taking part in its drug-free programme, which includes an eating plan and therapy treatments.
The well-established programme was set up in 1942 by Charles de Coti-Marsh but the charity’s new chief executive, Lynda Scott-Williams, is now hoping to raise awareness of the condition and the association.
All the money raised from Bourne 2 Bike will go towards easing the pain of arthritis by funding therapy grants for its members.
