The Eastbourne Shed is inviting people to its official open day this weekend.
The shed hopes to provide a place where people over the age of 50 can go to do things they would usually do in their own shed, but in the company of others.
The scheme, being run by Age Concern, hopes to combat loneliness and help people become more sociable, while also teaching them new skills and providing a place for them to share their knowledge and ideas.
The open day will take place at The Eastbourne Shed, on Fort Lane, on Saturday, April 18, from 10am-4pm. On the day, some of the current ‘shedders’ will be helping to show potential new members the activities on offer, such as bird house making, tool refurbishments and frame making. There will also be a raffle and refreshments.
The Eastbourne Shed received funding from East Sussex County Council for the next three years but has also received generous donations of tools and materials from local residents.
