Set sail to the Hippodrome for some pirate fun


A theatre has joined forces with two of the town’s tourist attractions to ensure the summer holidays end on a high.

Classic children’s tale Treasure Island will be given a twist when it comes to the Royal Hippodrome Theatre on August 27-30, courtesy of Wicked Productions.

And all those enjoying the show will be able to continue the adventure as part of Little Treasures Week.

To celebrate the coming to town of the Hippodrome’s first summer children’s show, the theatre is teaming up with The Redoubt Museum, Treasure Island Adventure Park and Visit Eastbourne.

The £99 Little Treasures Pass includes entry tickets for a family of four to the Redoubt Museum and entry tickets for a family of four to Treasure Island on a date of your choice between August 24-30.

It also includes a family ticket for the matinee performance of Hooray for Hollywood’ on August 26, plus a family ticket to the selected show of Treasure Island.

The show will see Chris Edgerley (High 5 CITV) star as the hero of the hour Jim Hawkins, along with Silly Billy Bones (Jimmy Burton-Iles), Jolly Roger (Tom Swift),Seadog Sally (Amanda Swift) and of course Long John Silver plus special star guest, Dani Harmer as Marilyn the Mermaid.

A spokesperson for the Hippodrome said: “Never before has there been such a collaboration, never before has there been a show dedicated to the family in such a panto-esque style in the summer.

“It is to signal to the world that Eastbourne is not about bowls and mobility scooters - we are a young resort with plenty to do for everyone of all ages!”
