Serious fire at Eastbourne pub

A fire broke out at an Eastbourne pub overnight – the second time in a matter of days.

Multiple fire engines rushed to the scene at the Alexandra Arms in Seaside at about 1am this morning (July 11).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) tweeted at 2am, “We are attending a fire on the 1st floor of a property in Seaside Road, #Eastbourne, we are using 6 BA, 1 main and 2 hose reel jets to bring the fire under control.”

The fire service said they had managed to put out the fire in an update at 3.18am.

Appliances remained on scene for ‘damping down’ and all persons were accounted fire, ESFRS said.

Police remain on scene this morning.

It comes after another fire at the same pub late on Wednesday night (July 8).

A small blaze had broken out on the first floor of the building at around 11.30pm that night.

Sussex Police and Greene King pubs, which owns the Alexandra Arms, have been contacted for comment.
