Planning permission has been granted for an Eastbourne seafront hotel to have at least another 33 rooms.

The Cavendish Hotel is converting its conference and function rooms – including the Sussex Suite, Devonshire and Compton rooms – on the lower ground floor in to bedrooms.

The popular four-star 112-room seafront hotel on Grand Parade was bought by Britannia Hotels last summer.

It was previously owned by the Regency Group, which bought the establishment in 2002.

Plans on Eastbourne Borough Council’s planning website show an additional 33 rooms proposed on the lower ground floor.
