HOMEMADE soups, hot jacket potatoes and delicious desserts went down a treat at a charity fundraiser in Seaford.

The Soup, Spud and Pud Lunch was hosted by Seaford in Bloom (SIB) and saw around 70 people support the event.

The fundraiser, which was held in St Leonard’s Church Hall, included a raffle and a total of £430 was raised. This will go towards the floral displays in the town.

Everyone who attended the event was delighted by the news that Seaford Town Council has awarded Seaford in Bloom a grant for 2011 towards the watering and maintenance of the floral displays in the town.

The containers and plants are provided through sponsorship and various fundraising events such as the Soup, Spud and Pud Lunch.

The Town Council has also decided to ‘ring fence’ this grant for Seaford in Bloom as it considers it to be outside the main grants fund, due to the necessity caused by the timing of the projects.

SIB’s next fundraiser is a Golf Day at Blatchington Golf Course on Wednesday May 18.

Teams of four are required and tickets cost £100 per team. This includes a bacon butty before the event and a ham, egg and chips meal afterwards.
