The Lindfield Secondary School in Hampden Park has been recognised for its dedication to learning outside the classroom (LOtC) by receiving a national award.
The Learning Outside the Classroom Mark is given by a specialist council and accredits those schools with a strong awareness of the benefits of providing frequent, continuous and progressive LOtC experiences.
The Lindfield Secondary School was awarded a bronze mark and have begun to integrate LOtC into the day-by-day schedule at the school.
Kirsty McIlhargey, Head of School, said, “Being awarded the LOtC Mark (Bronze) gives external acknowledgment to the hard work and commitment of all our staff in providing high quality learning experiences for our pupils.
“It additionally shows that alongside our regular secondary curriculum, which includes GCSEs and vocational courses, we are providing all our pupils with additional experiences that bring their learning ‘to life’ and make a really positive impact on their achievements.
“We’re thrilled to get official recognition for our efforts and we look forward to building on this award to integrate LOtC into the everyday life of the school.”
