They said, “It is with great sadness that the staff and students of Ratton School have said goodbye to our lovely school cat, Star.

“Star was a real character cat who chose to come and live at Ratton.

“At first she was a regular visitor before permanently moving into the school about 10 years ago.

“We are unsure of her age, although we think she was at least 18 when she succumbed to cancer.

“Star will be fondly remembered by many of us.

“She could mostly be found in the reception area where she would enjoy cuddles with many of her admirers.

“On one occasion she even upstaged the former Head teacher by walking across the stage in the middle of his address to prospective parents!

“Star would often attend staff meetings in the mornings and would choose a lap to curl up on while the business of the day was being discussed. She will particularly be missed by Steve and Tracy Comfort who looked after her in the holidays.

“Anyone who understands cats will know how special it is to be chosen by one to be their family.”
