Samaritans, supporters and their friends and families will be taking part in a seafront walk to raise awareness of the charity and remember
The walk is being organised by Eastbourne and District Samaritans on September 20, when the local branch will be celebrating 50 years of service to the community.
The walk will start from the Fort Fun car park at 11.30am and continue along the promenade to the Western Lawns where everyone will sit down to enjoy a picnic.
The one and a half mile walk and picnic are open to all – Samaritans volunteers, their families, friends and members of the public.
Beryl Healy, who chaired the organisation for three years, died in a tragic accident earlier this year and the walk will commemorate her outstanding contribution over many years to our charity.
The walkers will be carrying collecting buckets and hope fellow prom users will be generous with donations.
Around 100 people are expected to do the walk and are invited to turn up on the day.
Samaritans is a charity that offers support to people in distress and despair. Volunteer listeners can provide emotional support over the phone, face-to-face and via email.
