POLEGATE has a graffiti artist with a style similar to Banksy’s.

This stencil of a young man in a cowboy hat was spotted on a road sign at Polegate crossroads by a resident travelling from Jevington to Eastbourne on Sunday (April 17). The resident suggested the piece may have been done by the world famous street artist Banksy.

Banksy is an anonymous graffiti artist, political activist, film director and painter, whose work was born out of the Bristol underground scene.

However, the Gazette contacted the Banksy website and a spokesperson has confirmed the stencil in Polegate ‘definitely not by Banksy’.
