Rider dies from injuries after being thrown from horse

AN Eastbourne woman has died of her injuries in hospital after being thrown from her horse.

Police confirmed this morning that the 28-year-old woman died at a London hospital after being critically injured following the fall.

The incident happened just off the A271 in Hailsham on last Monday, May 28.

Police and emergency services were called to Under Road, Magham Down, just before 6pm to reports that a horse rider, travelling east along a rural lane, had lost control when her horse become startled and started galloping at speed.

The victim was flown to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, East London.

Police are appealing for witnesses and have asked anyone who saw what happened or saw the rider and her horse in the area at the time is asked to contact police on 101, quoting Operation Banton.
