The NatWest branch in Hampden Park will now only be open between 10am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.

The move means the bank, which recently stopped opening at weekends, will no longer open outside normal office hours.

Hampden Park residents took to Facebook to voice their worries about the cut in hours.

One Facebook user, Alan Clark, said, “[With] no opening times for workers, it will not be long before they say, ‘it’s not being used enough, so we have decided to close.’”

Another resident, Malvine Brown, said, “No one seems think about the people that haven’t got their own transport and it’s not always easy for them to travel into Eastbourne.”

Keith Dunlop said, “Give them a couple months and then it will be gone just like the rest.”

NatWest said it had changed the hours based on current customer usage and has no current plans to close the branch.

A spokeswoman for the bank said, “We continually review the best times and days for our branches to be open, based on our customers’ usage and other ways they can access banking in the local area.

“As a result, The Hampden Park branch will now open 10am-4pm.”
