Residents’ confusion as ‘60ft geyser’ appears in Newhaven

A suspected broken water hydrant is causing quite a spectacle in Newhaven this morning.

Dozens of people have taken to social media today (Friday, May 29) to post photographs of the water spray, with some saying it reaches up to 60ft in the air.

A number of people have likened it to a geyser, while others have joked it is a new fountain or water feature for the town.

It is thought to have been caused by a broken water hydrant near the flyover being used by a road sweeper filling up.

South East Water are currently looking into the incident.
