RESIDENTS packed the Fleur de Lys meeting room on Thursday to complain about a plan to build flats. Developers want to demolish Kingdom Hall in Falcon Way and build a two/three storey block of two and three-bedroom flats.
Diane Page lives next door to the site. She said, 'It is out of keeping with the surrounding area and I am very worried about being overlooked and overshadowed.
'My property is one-storey and they are talking about a two or three story building.'
John Wright lives in the chalet opposite the proposed block and he is very worried about the parking.
'There is not enough room for residents to park in Falcon Way now,' he said. 'Falcon Way is too narrow and people park all over the pavement now.
'The road is full of cars and if the hall goes immediately we lose a parking space.'
Councillors were equally worried about the parking as the plans have only allocated one parking space per flat.
Cllr Nick Ellwood said that is against the Wealden District Council parking requirements.
The planning committee agreed to point that out to Wealden officers and have arranged a site visit before making its recommendations.
