A dog rescued by an Eastbourne women backpacking across East Asia has won a competition to be the face of an upcoming dog show.

Chloe Thompsett found Lola, her pet Pomeranian, in an animal shelter while backpacking across Thailand.

But after recovering and being brought to the UK, Lola will now be the face of Demelza Hospice Care for Children’s Pooches on the Prom fundraiser, which is taking place in Eastbourne next month.

Chloe said, “It cost me an arm and a leg to bring her back to Eastbourne but she’s definitely worth it.

“I’m so chuffed she’s won the Pooches photo competition and I’m really looking forward to bringing her along to the dog walk and entering her into some of the show classes.”

Lola’s picture will now be used on flyers and posters to promote the fundraiser and will also lead the dog walk with owner Chloe.

The event, which is sponsored by Eastbourne Town Football Club, will take place in Helen Gardens, Western Parade, on Sunday September 13.

There will be a dog walk and a show with 10 categories including best pedigree, best puppy, best veteran, waggiest tail and best trick.

Rosettes will be given out for first to third in each class.

Registration for the walk costs £5 per dog (owners go free) and includes a Demelza dotty bandana. Participants can register in advance or on the day from 11am.
