A HEALTH club raised £420 for a breast cancer charity after collecting 2.5kgs of recycled bras.

Staff and fitness fanatics at Curves held a month of fundraising, with new members having their sign-up fees wavered in return for a donation to Breast Cancer Care.

The club then hosted a string of awareness activities including a girls night in which shad an auction, raffle and belly dancing lessons.

And a large chunk of the funds were raised by Curves’ bra recycling bank – with dozens of pairs being handed in.

Staff also used sessions to stress the importance of a healthy diet, regular exercise, monthly breast self-exams and yearly mammograms in fighting breast cancer.

“We are so proud of our members for their show of support and their enthusiasm,” said Olena Myslyvtseva, owner of Curves Eastbourne.

“Strengthening women is our mission at Curves – we’re working to keep everyone healthy through exercise and through learning to be breast aware.”
