Television presenter David Dimbleby turned on the Christmas lights in Polegate on Saturday (December 1).
Crowds gathered to watch the Question Time star, who lives near Polegate, switch on the festive decorations across the town.
The event started earlier in the day with a Dickensian theme. Children and adults came in Victorian costumes for the chance to win prizes in the fancy dress competition.
Father Christmas came to town by train and gave each child a present.
There was also entertainment throughout the afternoon from the Long Man Morris Dancers, Polegate Community Singers and the Kingfisher Scout Band.
The South Downs Singers were also at the event and sang festive songs around the tree.
The evening finished with mince pies, mulled wine and a Dickensian quiz at Polegate Community Centre.
