Puppet show marks 350 years of Punch and Judy

THE 350TH anniversary of the first appearance of Mr Punch in England will be celebrated at the Redoubt today (Tuesday July 24).

Mr Punch and Judy will be putting on a traditional show between 10am–12pm and 2pm-4pm every Tuesday until August 21.

Children will also be able to have a go at making their own puppets and trying out other Victorian seaside past times at the fortress.

The Play Ranger will also be there, along with all of her toys and there will be giant board games to play with, including Chess, Draughts, Ludo and Dominoes there also – as part of the ongoing War Games exhibition.

Drop-in activities are running throughout the summer to keep children entertained. On August 27 there will a Shiver Me Timbers family drop in art and craft day where kids can try their hand at piratical activities from 11am till 3pm.
