Helen Burton said, “As a resident of Ratton I am looking forward to getting to know my neighbours in the ward better.

“For many years I have volunteered in Eastbourne to support residents, and I became an Eastbourne Borough Councillor to enable me to serve them better.

“As an East Sussex County Council (ESCC) member I will be able to champion the needs of our residents regarding adult social care and children services, areas I am very passionate about as an ex foster-parent and local charity worker.

“I look forward to hearing from residents in Ratton who would like to help put these issues in particular, firmly under the microscope at ESCC.”

And Kathy Ballard said, “I am delighted to have been chosen to fight the county council seat for Sovereign Ward in 2021.

“Sovereign is a very special place and the people living there often feel separate from the rest of the town.

“As the Liberal Democrat candidate I will be able to work closely with the borough council, and bring Sovereign to a closer involvement and influence within the Eastbourne community.

“Championing its issues both in the town and at county level. It’s time for a new approach at ESCC and, if elected, I will aim to be a part of the solution to its financial difficulties.”
