Police warning over spate of Eastbourne burglaries

A Samurai sword was among the loot stolen in a spate of three burglaries in three days in Eastbourne.

A handbag was stolen from a home in Susans Road at about 8.30pm on October 3, followed by a burglary at a house in Belmore Road between 8.30pm on October 5 and 12.45am on October 6 where a lap top was stolen.

The occupant of a house in Dudley Road went to bed at 11pm on October 6 and when he got up the following morning at 7am found cigarettes, a lighter, a new iPhone 5, his wallet and a display Samurai sword stolen.

Detective Constable Damon Deans-Cane said, “All three burglaries occurred during the hours of darkness and we are eager to hear from anyone that saw people acting suspiciously in the area.

“Police would also like to remind everyone to make sure their doors and windows are securely locked at all times, and to report any unusual behaviour immediately using 101 or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
