Police office opens up on town seafront

Eastbourne Borough Council’s Neighbourhood First team and Sussex Police have joined forces to open a new satellite office on the seafront.

The office, located on the lower prom beside the pier, has wifi installed and is an administrative base for the teams while they are patrolling the busy seafront area.

It allows them to access technology and log on to their work systems without having to return to the main office at 1 Grove Road, improving the efficiency of their patrols.

Councillor Steve Wallis, Eastbourne Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Place Services, said, “This satellite office is a great time-saver and means our team can spend more time on the seafront providing extra support to people and dealing with their enquiries.

“This further extends our close working partnership with Sussex Police pioneered at the Customer Contact Centre at 1 Grove Road which is proving successful in providing the best service possible to residents.”

Chf Insp Emma Brice, Eastbourne’s District Commander, said, “Being visible and accessible in the communities we serve helps to strengthen relationships with Eastbourne’s residents, businesses and visitors. This new office allows local officers to spend more time in the community and provides an excellent opportunity to work more closely with our partners which ultimately means we can deliver better services to the public.

“We have already seen an improvement in the way we work with Eastbourne Borough Council following the local policing team’s move into 1 Grove Road in October 2013, and this new office will only further strengthen our joined up approach.”
