Police identify Eastbourne teenager found dead at Beachy Head

Police have identified the body of an Eastbourne teenager who was recovered from Beachy Head this weekend.

The body was recovered at around 5pm on Friday (May 6) and later identified as 19-year-old James Cooke from Eastbourne.

Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

A police spokesman said, “The body of a 19-year-old local man was recovered. He has been identified as James Cooke, 19, of Norway Road, Eastbourne.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s officer is continuing enquiries.”
