Police identify body washed up near Beachy Head

Police say it is that of Barry Goodsell, 36, of Bexhill-on-Sea.

His body was recovered from the foot of cliffs at Cow Gap at around 8.20am on Tuesday (February 28).

According to Sussex Police, there were no suspicious circumstances but enquiries into Mr Goodsell’s death and the discovery of a white car in the sea nearby are continuing.

One theory being investigated is that the two incidents, which occurred on the same morning, are linked.

Mr Goodsell’s next of kin have been informed.
