Police are appealing for witnesses following a devastating fire at Shinewater Primary School in Milfoil Drive, Eastbourne.

Officers were called just before 1am on Monday (October 12) to a report of a blaze which is believed to have been started deliberately.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue was also in attendance and crews managed to put the flames out by around 3am.

There have been no reported injuries, but damage to the school buildings has been extensive.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Chief Inspector Emma Brice said, “We would like to speak with anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious in the area.

“Witnesses can email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 0033 of 12/10.”
