Police appeal over Polegate crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Polegate that left a motorcyclist seriously ill in hospital.

A red Renault Megane and a Honda motorcycle were in collision outside the Tesco Express petrol station in Eastbourne Road at 5.40pm on Friday 7 February.

The 67-year-old motorcyclist from Polegate was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital where he is being treated for fractures to his hip and leg and a bruised brain.

The 63-year-old Renault driver, also from Polegate, was not hurt.

PC Michael Dunn said, “The collision happened during heavy rush hour traffic so a lot of people will have seen what happened.

“Please contact us to tell us what you saw, no matter how small the piece of information you might have is.”
