Police appeal for witnesses after man stabbed in Eastbourne

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses following a serious assault in Eastbourne earlier this when a man was stabbed.

Officers were called after three men were seen fighting in Elms Road near the junction with Seaside Road at around 6.55pm on July 10.

One of them was injured during the confrontation, before the group dispersed.

Police arrested a 51-year-old man from Eastbourne on suspicion of wounding with intent and he was released on bail until September 18.

The victim, a 27-year-old from Eastbourne, was found in Willowfield Road at around 8.30pm and was transported to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. His injuries were not life threatening and he has since been discharged.

The identity of the third man is unknown.

Detective Police Constable Andrew Laker-Mountford said today (Friday), “We’d like to hear from anyone who either heard or saw what happened on the evening of July 15. If you can help please email 101@sussex.pnn.police.ukor call 101 quoting serial 1331 of 15/7.”
