Police are appealing for witnesses after four rings were stolen from a jewellery shop in Cornfield Road, Eastbourne on Sunday (December 20).

A man and a woman walked into the store at around 3pm and asked to look at some watches. When a shop worker retrieved one to show the couple, she noticed the jewellery, worth more than £1,700, missing from a ring pad.

The suspects ran out of the door and got into a silver Peugeot before driving off.

The man is described as Asian, in his late 30s and of stocky build. He was wearing dark jeans with a grey or blue cardigan.

The woman was also described as Asian with long dark hair and wearing a long, dark jacket.

A 23-year-old woman from London has been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on bail until January 19.

PC Luke Brown said, “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area on Sunday afternoon.

“Witnesses can email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 894 of 20/12.”
