A POLEGATE man has been jailed for possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Shane Taylor, 27, of Levett Avenue, was sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Friday, June 15. He had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

The court heard that three bags of cocaine were found in a carrier bag linked to Taylor on March 2 this year. Police then found him staying at the Premier Inn in Polegate and carried out a search of the room. They found more cocaine, a set of scales for weighing the drugs, a metal spoon, and cash. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

The court made a destruction order for the drugs, worth £4,600, and an order was also made to seize the £255.20 cash found in Taylor’s possession under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Patch said: “This was a good result with Taylor receiving a substantial sentence.”
